L.K.S. End Of Year Locker Cleanout

End of Year Locker Cleanout
We are almost at the end of the year and you know what that means...your locker likely needs a good clean out!!! Remember to use the bins in the hallways during the set locker clean out dates -- they are clearly marked for RECYCLING, REUSE, AND GARBAGE.

We will create a bin for REUSE for materials such as pencils, pens, binders, rulers, etc.  As you know these things can be reused again next year! If you don't want them or need them - someone else might like to use these items!

L.K.S. launches Boomerang Lunch Program!

WasteFree Lunch Tips

o Get children to help pack their lunches with healthy foods.

o Only pack as much food as your child will eat.

o Use a reusable lunch bag/box for carrying a lunch.

o Label all containers so they have a better chance of coming home.

o Use a refillable bottle for drinks – it’s cheaper and kids can save drinks for later! Avoid drinks in packaging that cannot be resealed. After a few sips, drinks are often discarded.

o Use a thermos for cold drinks or hot soups.

o Put sandwiches, muffins, etc. in ‘tupperware’-style containers, instead of plastic bags.

o Re-use plastic margarine tubs or washed milk bags for veggies & trail mix.

o Avoid pre-packaged, single-serving portions of snacks or drinks.

o Cut big items up so your kids save food for after-school snacking or recess.

o Put reusable cutlery and napkins in your child’s lunch box.

o Prepare extra food at dinnertime and use the leftovers for lunches.

o Minimize the morning rush (when you’ll reach for the convenience, over-packaged items) and pack lunches the night before and refrigerate overnight.

o Include fresh fruit and vegetables for a healthy lunch!
